苗栗市公所於（7月2日）在水源里活動中心辦理苗栗市生命紀念館櫃位選位抽籤活動。
民眾依通知單完成報到後，9點開始進行菩薩區54位登記者的選位抽籤；9點半依序進行一般區共七階段677位登記者的選位抽籤。
完成櫃位選位抽籤的民眾請於7月6日起至7月12日依自己所抽出的籤號配合市公所排定日程準時前往生命紀念館自行選位，時段開放兩位家屬同時入內選位，選位時間5分鐘。
納骨堂第一期的櫃位共有1萬2千500個塔位可供選擇，未來第二期工程將進行家族櫃位的增設，以滿足鄉親為安放親人祖先的需求。
